Florida Water was first sold in New York in the early 1800s as a refreshing cologne. Over two centuries it became a staple in many spiritual traditions across the Americas, from hoodoo and Santería to Latin American curanderismo, where it is used to cleanse a space, wash an altar or bless a person.

How to Use It

Traditionally a few drops are splashed on the hands and neck, added to a cleansing bath, or wiped over an altar, doorway or crystal. Some people add a little to a bowl of water set out as an offering. It is a cologne, so keep it away from eyes and do not drink it.  South American shamans will "splash" a mist of it over entire groups in the ceremony.
